Late 19th century Bronze of a youthful Mercury signed & dated, CCH 1898.
With beautiful verdigris patination.
Roman God Mercury is recognised by his winged feet, on which he flitted between heaven and earth. The wings symbolise swiftness. He is often depicted with a helmet which signifies power & protection.
He is shown here with wings in his hair.
